BILLIONAIRE inventor Sir James Dyson has declared his confidence in British business and said trade is set to thrive after the UK breaks from the European Union (EU).
The Brexiteer said he was "enormously optimistic" about Britain's prospects outside of the political bloc and said the UK now has the chance to form a closer relationship with the Commonwealth.
He told the BBC: "Europe's only 15 per cent of the global market and the really fast-expanding markets are in the Far East.
"I'm enormously optimistic because looking outwards to the rest of the world is very, very important because that's the fast-growing bit."
Sir James added: "I'm a patriot, which is why I'm rather keen on re-connecting with the Commonwealth."
The entrepreneur also hit out at doom-monger claims that the economy could be hit by EU staff being forced to leave the UK.
He said it was "absolute nonsense to suggest countries are going to chuck out foreign citizens".
Dyson last month revealed it was backing Britain's path outside of the EU by opening a new site and doubling its UK workforce.
The group currently employs around 3,500 people.
Dyson is the latest in a long line of companies that have signalled confidence in Brexit Britain, with Amazon and Toyota among the global firms to have committed to UK investment.
It comes as Britain's exports to countries outside of the EU have soared in the months after the Brexit vote.
The most recent data shows that goods to non-EU countries leapt 13.3 per cent quarter on quarter to January.
