The Remainer ditched the Tories, who held on to the seat. The former attorney general was ousted from the Tory party for rebelling against a no deal Brexit earlier this year. He then confirmed to Express.co.uk he was standing as an Independent candidate in Beaconsfield, which he has represented since 1997, even though his allegiance was still with the Tory party.
The constituency has traditionally been a safe Conservative seat since the 1970s.
In the 2017 election, the Lib Dems came third behind Mr Grieve.
But in 2010 and 2005 they narrowly lost out to him.
The Conservatives' victory was party of an overall win for the party.
It comes as Jacob Rees-Mogg retained his north east Somerset seat with a majority of 14,729.
He paid tribute to his family for their help with his campaigning and said there had been "some healthy competitive spirit between some of my sons".
"My greatest gratitude goes to the prime minister who has managed to win this victory for the Conservative party and to ensure that he can deliver on the promises that he has given," Mr Rees-Mogg said.
"I think that his leadership, his inspiration, has been of enormous importance to the Conservative party up and down the country."
